In the competition of the Swiss outdoor company Mammut they asked Object Design students from the Hochschule Luzern Design & Kunst to question the existing chalk bags. The draft which I developed during my two week-long self-study was convincing and was therefore selected as a winner along with three others.
I found inspiration for the design in the Swiss mountain world and Japanese origami. An interesting shadow play occurs due to the crinkles and the neutral colour white. The chosen material Paper Fabric is resistant, can be plotted and recycled. In its optic and haptic it reminds of paper but it is sewable like normal fabric. The draft with its graphic elements and subtle elegance suits a fashion-conscious climber and supplements the classical assortment of Mammut.
